    The region of the Poti River Canyon is located in the Northeast of Brazil, on the border of the states Ceará (CE) and Piauí (PI) and corresponds to a U-shaped incised valley, which sections the Serra Grande Formation sandstones, oriented E-W. In the area, a diversity of abiotic-based attractions can be observed (waterfalls, natural pools, lookouts, mountain ranges, caverns, caves, several ruiniform surfaces, among many others), besides paleontological manifestations such as ichnofossiliferous outcroppings. Furthermore, it presents a wealth of archeological sites (engravings and cave paintings) in association with historical/cultural aspects. Thus, this article aims to identify and analyze the cultural aspects of Sites of Geomorphological Interest (LIGeom) present in the region of the Poti River canyon, according to the classification of values of Murray Gray. In this regard, the following criteria were considered: i: to highlight the points that have historical and/or cultural relevance, and ii: places that have access for visitation in the aforementioned area. One can conclude that the work of recognition of the cultural aspects of the LIGeom is a source of data that subsidizes the implementation of future geoconservation measures in this area. In view of this, it is expected that the different spheres of public power, allied with private initiatives, especially from local residents, will take measures to ensure the conservation of this valuable geodiversity.

    A região do Cânion do rio Poti situa-se no Nordeste do Brasil, na divisa dos estados do Ceará (CE) e Piauí (PI) e corresponde a um vale inciso do tipo U, que secciona os arenitos da Formação Serra Grande orientado no sentido E-W. Na área, observam-se diversidade de atrativos de base abiótica (quedas d’água, piscinas naturais, mirantes, serras, cavernas, furnas, diversas feições ruiniformes, entre outros muitos), além de manifestações paleontológicas como afloramentos icnofossilíferos. Além disso, apresenta riqueza de sítios arqueológicos (gravuras e pinturas) em associação com aspectos históricos/culturais. O presente artigo objetiva identificar e analisar os aspectos culturais de Locais de Interesse Geomorfológico (LIGeom) presentes na região do Cânion do rio Poti, de acordo com a classificação de valores de Murray Gray. Nesse sentido, foram considerados os seguintes critérios: i: dar destaque aos pontos que disponham de relevância histórica e/ou cultural, e ii: locais que possuam acesso para visitação na área supracitada. Conclui-se que o trabalho de reconhecimento dos aspectos culturais dos LIGeom é uma fonte de dados que subsidia a implantação de futuras medidas de geoconservação nesta área. Espera-se que as diferentes esferas do poder público, aliadas a iniciativas privadas, em especial dos moradores locais, efetivem medidas que garantam a conservação desta valiosa geodiversidade.
