This article aims to understand the international identities of Brazil constituted and represented through Brazilian foreign policy discourses during the Lula administrations (2003–2010). This is a qualitative-interpretative research, which was based on the application of a discourse analysis based on the theme of peace and security in the Middle East. The chosen method combined the operationalization of linguistic-discursive categories extracted from the script by Dominique Maingueneau (2016) with his Global Semantics. Through the application of the analytical device, a system of meaning operated by the discourses that textually displaced the positions of the State in the discursive space was identified, while relations of differences were represented. This system brought together a set of representational practices, such as the approximation and differentiation of spatialities, the mobilization of affections, the establishment of polemics, the use of proper names, the establishment of intertextual links with temporal scenes, among others. It was concluded that Brazil's international identities, as a peaceful and interlocutor between peoples, led and justified the State in the international system through positions of power.
