El reingreso de Venezuela al sistema Interamericano de Derechos Humanos

    La compleja transición en Venezuela debe valorarse a la luz del Sistema Interamericano de Derechos Humanos. Por ello, uno de los principales objetivos del Estatuto que rige la transición, fue la reincorporación de Venezuela a la Convención Americana sobre Derechos Humanos, y a la Carta de la Organización de Estados Americanos. Asimismo, la protección internacional de la transición democrática venezolana requería que Venezuela volviese a formar parte del Tratado Interamericano de Asistencia Recíproca, cuya interpretación debe efectuarse a la luz del Sistema Interamericano de Derechos Humanos y la protección del derecho a la democracia. Esta estrategia fue exitosamente implementada en 2019 gracias al reconocimiento internacional del Presidente de la Asamblea Nacional actuando como Presidente encargado de la República

    The complex transition in Venezuela must be analyzed in light of the Inter-American System of Human Rights. Therefore, one of the main objectives of the Statute that governs the transition was the re-incorporation of Venezuela to the American Convention on Human Rights and to the Charter of the Organization of American States. Likewise, the international protection of the Venezuelan democratic transition required that Venezuela become part, again, of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance, that should be interpreted in accordance with the Inter-American System of Human Rights and the protection of the right to democracy. This strategy was successfully implemented in 2019 thanks to the international recognition of the President of the National Assembly acting as Interim President of the Republic.
