Metodología e investigación: ¿es posible superar el reduccionismo cientificista?

    El cientifismo imperante ha obligado a introducir criterios cuantitativos claramente contrarios a la idiosincrasia de las Humanidades y de los humanistas. En este trabajo se propone un replanteamiento en profundidad de estos instrumentos, ya que su aplicación solo ha producido un deterioro muy notable en la calidad de la investigación en Humanidades. Pero no solo cabe la crítica a los métodos cuantitativos que pretenden convertir a las Humanidades en lo que no son, es decir, sucedáneos de las ciencias físicas y experimentales, sino también a otros métodos como es el de la evaluación por pares. La crítica se centra en poner de manifiesto el sesgo profundamente ideológico que tiene este procedimiento en el campo de las Humanidades. Porque, a pesar de contar con un ingente número de defensores, se defiende que, en realidad, ha propiciado una investigación plana y repetitiva que no se atreve a plantear temas ni perspectivas innovadoras y audaces. En último extremo, supone una merma de libertad que lleva a los investigadores a autocensurarse para acomodarse a esos moldes rígidos que impone la evaluación por pares, al existir en el mundo universitario una estructura de poder muy solidificada, basada en una hegemonía cultural e ideológica concreta y determinada.

    The prevailing scientism has forced the introduction of quantitative criteria clearly contrary to the idiosyncrasies of the Humanities and humanists. This paper proposes an in-depth rethinking of these instruments, since their application has only produced a very considerable deterioration in the quality of research in Humanities. But there is not only criticism of quantitative methods that seek to turn the Humanities into what they are not, that is, substitutes for the physical and experimental sciences, but also of other methods such as evaluation by peers. The criticism focuses on highlighting the deeply ideological bias that this procedure has in the field of Humanities. Because, despite having a huge number of defenders, it is argued that, in reality, it has led to a flat and repetitive investigation that does not dare to raise innovative and bold topics or perspectives for new research. Ultimately, it implies a reduction of freedom that leads researchers to self-censor to accommodate themselves to those rigid molds imposed by peer evaluation, since there is a very solidified power structure in the university world, based on a concrete and determined cultural and ideological hegemony.
