The collaboration between the University of Córdoba and the renowned collector, Pilar Citoler, is thefirst of its kind in Spain, giving rise to different cultural activities with a wide social projection, the mainone being the Pilar Citoler International Biennial Award (PBIFCPC). Since 2006 it has been the secondmost important in Spain, after the National Photography Award, and with a wide international impactin the world of photography. The PBIFCPC stipulates in its bases the realization of two exhibitions thatare nurtured, one of the works presented by the fifteen finalists and another dedicated to the winningphotographer, both from the current edition. The prestige of this award means that its participants havea high professional and artistic level, so the repeated approach to contemporary photography throughthese exhibitions entails a progressive visual and cultural education. On this basis, the training plan forthis award is drawn up, aimed at students at the University of Córdoba, high schools and the generalpublic, with the aim of promoting photographic culture from an artistic perspective. We do not intend toapproach exclusively the photographic technique, which would occupy another complementary aspectof our work. The training plan aims to educate in the understanding of contemporary photography sothat, through an adequate explanation, it is easier to approach it. Teachers who explain each photograph must take into account why this medium has been chosen to express themselves, the social context, the message that is intended to convey, etc., to facilitate the understanding of each photograph. Sinceit is not listed anywhere else, we use our pages to first describe the specific complementary trainingdeveloped by the award.
