    Self-publishing has a bad reputation in the literary and publishing world but it has grown steadily during the Internet age. Since the invention of the printing press, author-published has evolved, changing the way we view an author and an editor. The responsibilities and tasks of both have been merging. This article explains what self-publishing is and the various types that exist; why authors resort to self-publishing and, finally, what roles the author started to play.

    A autopublicação tem uma má reputação no mundo literário e editorial, mas tem crescido cada vez mais durante a era da Internet. Desde a invenção da imprensa que a edição de autor se desenvolveu, mudando a forma como vemos um autor e um editor. As responsabilidades e tarefas de ambos começaram a fundir-se. Este artigo explica o que é a autopublicação e os vários tipos que existem; o porquê dos autores recorrerem a ela;  finalizando com os papéis que o autor começou a ter.
