    Los motivos son las unidades narrativas menores de los romances y están configuradas por un núcleo que contiene los elementos esenciales y elementos periféricos que completan el significado. Sin embargo, estas unidades tienen la posibilidad por su propia composición de variar su significado. En este trabajo se muestran estas posibilidades de variación en el motivo el protagonista pasea, su apertura en la significación, la forma en que varía discursivamente y las posibilidades de uso según el tema de la historia del romance. Hay que señalar que se trata de un motivo presente en un enorme número de versiones de distintos romances.

    Motifs are the minor narrative units of the Spanish ballads and are configured by a core that contains the essential elements and satellites or peripherical elements that completethe significance. Nevertheless, these units have the possibility, by their own composition,to vary their significance. In this work we show these possibilities of variation in the motif the protagonists walk, its opening in the significance, the form of its discursive variation and the possibilities of use according to the plot and theme of the fable of the Spanish ballad. It should be noted that this is a motif present in a big number of versions of different ballads.
