Virtually no one has spoken or written about these rare silver coins produced by King John, the First since Pío Beltrán Villagrasa did so in 1960. This author contributed his criteria on the moment in which, according to him, these coins were issued. Since then, they have not been discussed in a monographic way. This study provides for the first time the diplomatic knowledge about them, and the critical study of the documentary evidence that would allow them to be dated more accurately within the reign of the afore mentioned monarch.
Through the present study we will try to offer a first didactic interpretation for its interpretation and knowledge through the symbolic and heraldic elements that were carved in them, taking into account numismatic, historical, documentary and artistic aspects, which must always be considered as a whole, in order to understand how the images received through the eyes and the perception of a person who lived through such events during the late Middle Ages were perceived and understood.
