    En el punto más alto de la ciudad vieja de Cáceres, incluida en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial desde 1986, se encuentra el Museo de Cáceres, una institución centenaria que, desde esa fecha, ha visto cómo la ciudad se convertía en un importante destino turístico y ha tenido que lidiar con esa circunstancia.

    Con los mismos limitados recursos que el resto de museos extremeños, el museo cacereño tiene que hacer frente a las expectativas de miles de visitantes atraídos por su aljibe y, en menor grado, por sus colecciones. Durante décadas fue el único museo de la ciudad, pero a lo largo del último decenio han surgido nuevas ofertas para los visitantes, decayendo su liderazgo, pero también la presión turística sobre la institución

    At the highest point of the old city of Cáceres, included in the World Heritage list since 1986, there is the Museum of Cáceres, a centennial institution that, since that date, has seen the city becoming an important tourist destination and has had to deal with that circumstance.

    With the same limited resources as the other museums in Extremadura, the Cáceres museum has to face the expectations of thousands of visitors drawn by its cistern and, to a lesser extent, by its collections. It had been the only museum for decades in the city, but over the last decade new offers for visitors have emerged, leading to the decline of its leadership, but helping the tourist pressure on the institution
