    La obligación alimentaria compromete a una persona a proporcionar los medios necesarios para cubrir las necesidades básicas de otra que no puede satisfacer por sí mismo sus necesidades básicas. Esta obligación es naturalmente asumida por los progenitores respecto de sus hijos menores, pero también puede aplicarse en otras situaciones, como cuando un cónyuge debe proporcionar sustento al otro, durante el matrimonio o incluso después del divorcio. Esta obligación se basa en el principio de solidaridad familiar. Sin embargo, la regulación peruana no incluye ninguna forma de fiscalización de los recursos que se entregan a los encargados de administrarlos, quienes lo hacen a libre arbitrio y muchas veces sin tener en cuenta las necesidades de los beneficiarios de los alimentos que están bajo su tenencia o custodia. En tal sentido, se propone la implementación de un sistema de fiscalización, semejante a los que se aplican en algunos países, con la finalidad de garantizar la verdadera función de las asignaciones alimentarias, es decir, atender las reales necesidades de los hijos y su superior interés.

    Alimony commits a person to provide the necessary means to cover the basic needs of another who cannot satisfy their basic needs themselves. This obligation is naturally assumed by parents with respect to their minor children, but it can also apply in other situations, such as when one spouse must provide support for the other during marriage or even after divorce. This obligation is based on the principle of family solidarity. However, Peruvian regulation does not include any form of oversight for the resources that are delivered to those in charge of managing them, who do so at their own discretion and often without taking into account the alimentary needs of the beneficiaries under their custody. In this sense, the implementation of an oversight system is proposed, similar to those applied in some countries, with the purpose of guaranteeing the true function of food allocations, that is, addressing the real needs of the children and their best interests.
