En este artículo se revisan brevemente las visiones ideológicas prevalecientes desde 1970 – y que lamentablemente siguen vigentes aún hasta hoy en grupos extremos de ambos lados del espectro político. Pero, el foco central del artículo está orientado a desmitificar dos mitos muy arraigados en la Sociedad chilena. Primero, la creencia de que la Dictadura de Pinochet fue exitosa en lo económico; se proporcionará la evidencia empírica que revela que fue un fracaso económico. Segundo, que el éxito de los Gobiernos de la Concertación es consecuencia de las reformas estructurales implementadas por los Chicago Boys; esto no es efectivo, y el artículo explica las diferencias existentes. Por último, el artículo finaliza con dos lecciones que aún no se han aprendido en la Sociedad chilena.

This article briefly reviews the ideological visions prevailing since 1970 - and which unfortunately are still in force today, in extreme groups on both sides of the political spectrum. However, the central focus of the article is aimed at demystifying two myths deeply rooted in Chilean society. First, the belief that the Pinochet Dictatorship was economically successful; empirical evidence will be provided to reveal that it was an economic failure. Second, that the success of the Concertación governments is a consequence of the structural reforms implemented by the Chicago Boys; this is not true, and the article explains the existing differences. Finally, the article ends with two lessons that have not yet been learned by Chilean society.
