    El primer mestizo noble en el Nuevo Mundo fue Martín, hijo de Hernán Cortés y La Malinche, indígena entregada como esclava en señal de tributo y amistad al Conquistador cuando este llegó a México. Martín se educó en la Corte española con el príncipe Felipe, futuro rey de España, e intervino en varias batallas. En Nueva España participó en una conjura contra la Corona por la aprobación de las Leyes Nuevas de 1542. Fue torturado y sentenciado. Después regresó a España y combatió contra los moriscos, encontrando su muerte luchando en las Alpujarras el año 1569.

    The first noble mestizo in the New World was Martín, son of Hernán Cortés and La Malinche, and indigenous woman given as a slave as a sign of tribute and friendship to the conquistador when he arrived in Mexico. Martin was educated at the Spanish court with Prince Philip, the future King of Spain, and participated in several battles. In New Spain, he participated in a conspiracy against the Crown for the approval of the New Laws of 1542. He was tortured and condemned. He then returned to Spain and fought against the Moors, dying in battle in the Alpujarras in 1569.
