La sociedad vallisoletana se mostró partícipe del interés por la Antigüedad extendido en España durante la Ilustración y el Romanticismo.La existencia de un anticuariado local en los siglos xviii y xix se constata sin embargo representada por un reducido número de intelectuales y eruditos, cuya labor como anticuarios y coleccionistas es testimonio de aquel interés que fue declinando hasta su desvanecimiento al comenzar el siglo xx

Valladolid society was part of the interest in Antiquity widespread in Spainduring the Enlightenment and Romanticism. The existence of a local antiquarian in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is howeve rrepresented by a small number of intellectuals and scholars, whose work as antique dealers and collectors is testimony to that interest that was declining until its fading at the beginning of the twentieth century.
