    Este enfoque inédito de Walter Lippmann tiene en cuenta al ensayista y al editorialista en su materialidad discursiva. Concibe la introducción de The Good Society como un discurso en relación interdiscursiva con sus pares y con las preocupaciones políticas de su época, pero también —y sobre todo— como un discurso eficiente que mezcla los procedimientos discursivos y persuasivos de la editorial con el «relato ideológico» (Faye 2003). El examen de estos rasgos muestra cómo se constituye la «narración primitiva» (ibid.), elemento previo necesario para la aceptabilidad del «nuevo liberalismo».

    Cette approche inédite de Walter Lippmann prend en compte l’essayiste et l’éditorialiste dans leur matérialité discursive. Elle conçoit l’introduction de La Cité libre comme un discours en relation interdiscursive avec ses pairs et les préoccupations politiques de son époque, mais aussi et surtout comme un discours efficient qui mêle les procédés discursifs et persuasifs de l’éditorial avec le « récit idéologique » (Faye 2003). L’examen de ces traits montre comment se constitue la « narration primitive » (ibid.), préalable nécessaire à l’acceptabilité du « nouveau libéralisme ».

    The originality of Walter Lippmann’s approach takes into account the discursive materiality of the essayist and columnist. The introduction to The Good Society is conceived as a discourse that has an interdiscursive relationship with the work of his peers and the political preoccupations of the time, but also and above all as an efficient discourse that combines the discursive and persuasive methods of the editorial with the “ideological narrative” (Faye 2003). Examining these features shows how “primitive narration” (ibid.) is constructed, a necessary precondition to the acceptability of “new liberalism.”
