    El texto destaca la importancia de Francisco de la Maza en la formación de estudiantes y maestros en historia del arte novohispano y de las obras que resultan de gran alcance en el aprendizaje, como las que tratan sobre arquitectura de los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII. La autora de este estudio rastrea las correrías por las que ha pasado el estudio de la arquitectura novohispana, a partir del trabajo del historiador pionero, y propone que en la obra del pionero se encuentra el germen del gusto por los materiales, las técnicas edilicias e incluso por las etapas constructivas. González Leyva se une a la propuesta de De la Maza que proclama que “las esculturas y pinturas […] acompañan a la arquitectura como esclavas”, y concluye que no hay que olvidar la imagen como centro de la reflexión artística.

    The importance of Francisco de la Maza in the training of students and teachers in the history of Novo Hispanic art and works, thatare impactful in learning, such as those that deal with architecture of thesixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, is highlighted. The incursions through which the study of Novohispanic architecture has passed are emphasized, through the pioneer historian and the author of the text, who proposes that in the work of the former is the origin of the taste for materials, building techniques and even constructive stages. González Leyva joins the proposal of De la Maza to proclaim that “sculptures and paintings [...] they accompany architecture as slaves,” and concludes that we must not forget the image as the center of artistic reflection.
