Resumen de La religión del transhumanismo: ¿una nueva creencia para la humanidad?

Varios autores han realizado análisis sobre la relación entre la religión y la tecnología concluyendo diferentes interpretaciones, sin embargo el movimiento utópico transhumanista se presenta como un potencial desarrollo de nuestra empresa tecnocientífica que podría suponer una “superación” de la religión. En cambio atendiendo a la crítica que realizaron algunos pensadores al respecto, es posible observar una continuidad del proyecto transhumanista con ciertas corrientes herméticas y milenaristas. Para observar este fenómeno se investigan algunas de sus propuestas actuales y su posición general sobre el fenómeno religioso, así como la opinión de la religión contemporánea (principalmente desde el cristianismo occidental) al respecto del transhumanismo. El artículo concluye con un intento de aportar consideraciones alternativas al respecto de la relación entre la religión y el desarrollo tecnológico.

Several authors have analyzed the relationship between religion and technology, reaching different interpretations. However, the transhumanist utopian movement is presented as a potential development of our technoscientific enterprise that could mean an “overcoming” of religion. Taking into account the criticism of some thinkers regarding this, it is possible to observe a continuity between the transhumanist project and certain hermetic and millenarianist currents. Some of their current proposals and their general position regardingreligious phenomenon are investigated, as well as the opinion of contemporary religion on transhumanism. Then it becomes necessary to return to the first uses and definitions of transhumanism in order to see the extent to which conceptions and aspirations of the original transhumanism would be maintained in contemporary transhumanism. A technoscientific transhumanism approach is also presented, which allows us to approach transhumanism while maintaining a discourse with connotations of an eschatological type that prioritizes a “transcendental” technological development.
