    Este artículo propone la confrontación sistemática de algunos poemas de Poeta en Nueva York y de los textos en los que Fernando de los Ríos desarrolla su sentido humanista del socialismo. No se defiende que estos últimos influyan o sean fuente concreta de aquellos, pero se concluye que los iluminan y aportan nuevos matices a su significado. Si bien hay notables puntos de coincidencia a la hora de denunciar las injusticias sociales del capitalismo, así como la ausencia de valores espirituales en este sistema económico, el poeta y su antiguo profesor difieren en las políticas de solidaridad con los oprimidos y marginados. Se pretende contribuir así a las lecturas que han destacado la importancia de la parte social en un libro por otro lado difícilmente reducible a un solo estrato interpretativo.

    This article proposes the systematic comparison of some poems of Poeta en Nueva York and texts in which Fernando de los Ríos develops his humanist sense of socialism. Without claiming that the latter are influential or a specific source for the former, it is shown that they illuminate them and provide new nuances to their meaning. Although there are notable points of agreement when it comes to denouncing the social injustices of capitalism, as well as the absence of spiritual values in this economic system, the poet and his former teacher differ in their policies of solidarity with the oppressed and marginalized. Thus, the purpose is to give support to the readings that highlight the importance of the social aspect in a book that is difficult to reduce to a single interpretive view.
