Resumen de Restauración y conservación del Arca Santa de la catedral de Oviedo

  Este artículo recoge la intervención de conservación-restauración efectuada en el Arca Santa de la catedral de Oviedo durante el año 2017. Dicha operación se ha centrado en paliar los problemas y patologías que presentaba y en garantizar su estabilidad estructural. Para lograr este objetivo, ha sido necesario desmontar completamente el recubrimiento de plata, ejercicio que ha viabilizado el refuerzo estructural de las placas y el del cajón de madera. Así mismo, este desmontaje ha facilitado la limpieza, la corrección de ciertas deformaciones y la recuperación de zonas originales que habían quedado ocultas en otras intervenciones, mejorando en definitiva la lectura del conjunto y evitando los desajustes que presentaban las piezas. Finalmente, esta intervención ha permitido el estudio del soporte lígneo, el análisis de la gema de la cubierta y el estudio de las técnicas constructivas y decorativas. Todos estos datos, junto con la documentación históricoartística llevada a cabo en estos meses, están recopilados en la memoria de la intervención.

  This article includes the conservation-restoration intervention carried out in the Holy Ark of the Cathedral of Oviedo during the year 2017. This operation has focused on alleviating the problems and pathologies that the Ark presented, and on ensuring its structural stability. To achieve this goal, it has been necessary to completely dismantle the silver coating, an exercise that has made possible the structural reinforcement of the plates, as well as that of the wooden box. Likewise, this disassembly has facilitated the cleaning, the correction of certain deformations and the recovery of original areas that had been hidden in other interventions, ultimately improving the reading of the whole and avoiding the mismatches that the pieces presented. Finally, this intervention has made possible the study of the ligneous support, the analysis of the gem of the roof, and the study of the constructive and decorative techniques. All these data, together with the historical-artistic documentation carried out in these months, are compiled in the memory of the intervention.
