Por su crianza hispana y su acceso tanto a dicha cultura como a la andina durante los siglos XVI y XVII, un grupo de religiosos criollos ubicados en los Andes peruanos enriqueció a la Iglesia con su peculiar forma de comprender ambos componentes iniciales de la nueva realidad peruana en gestación. En este artículo reflexionaremos sobre la evangelización y la catequesis en los Andes peruanos a partir del caso de uno de los eclesiásticos criollos más importantes del Perú. En la transición del siglo XVI al XVII del virreinato peruano se desarrollaron importantes componentes de la evangelización andina, y fray Luis Jerónimo de Oré, uno de los primeros obispos criollos de América Latina, fue uno sus agentes.

Due to their Hispanic upbringing and their access to both that culture and the Andean culture during the 16th and 17th centuries, a group of religious Creoles located in the Peruvian Andes enriched the Church with their peculiar way of understanding both initial components of the new Peruvian reality in gestation. In this article we will reflect on evangelization and catechesis in the Peruvian Andes based on the case of one of the most important Creole ecclesiastics in Peru. In the transition from the 16th to the 17th century of the Peruvian viceroyalty, important components of Andean evangelization were developed, and Fray Luis Jerónimo de Oré, one of the first Creole bishops in Latin America, was one of its agents.
