  El arquitecto Emilio Duhart (1917-2006), representante destacado de la arquitectura moderna en Chile, tuvo el privilegio de formarse junto a dos de los arquitectos más importantes del siglo XX: Walter Gropius y Le Corbusier. En 1942, Duhart realizó un posgrado en arquitectura y urbanismo en la Universidad de Harvard, mientras Gropius era director del Departamento de Arquitectura de la Graduate School of Design. Diez años después, en 1952, realizó una estancia en el Atelier de Le Corbusier en París. La revisión de diversos escritos de Duhart (publicaciones, cartas y entrevistas), permite explorar su experiencia formativa y profesional con Gropius y Le Corbusier, sus encuentros posteriores y los grados de intimidad con cada uno; al mismo tiempo, la interpretación de estos documentos refleja como un espejo las ideas de Duhart sobre la arquitectura y la planificación en Chile (1941-1970), junto a su visión personal del país andino, así como las discrepancias con ambos arquitectos.

  The architect Emilio Duhart (1917-2006), a prominent representative of Latin America modern architecture, had the privilege of training with Walter Gropius and Le Corbusier, two of the most important architects of the 20th century. In 1942, Duhart completed a postgraduate degree in Architecture and Urbanism at Harvard University, while Gropius was the Director of the Department of Architecture at the Graduate School of Design. In 1952, ten years later, he stayed at Le Corbusier’s Atelier in Paris. The review of Duhart's various writings (publications, letters, interviews) allows us to explore his formative and professional experience with Gropius and Le Corbusier, his later meetings and the degrees of intimacy with each one. At the same time, the interpretation of these documents mirrors Duhart's ideas on architecture and planning in Chile (1941-1970), together with his personal vision of the Andean country, as well as the discrepancies with both architects.
