El síndrome o asociación de VACTERL tiene una baja incidencia de 1 a 10-40 mil nacidos vivos con mayores casos presentados en varones, el diagnóstico prenatal oportuno es la vía más adecuada para determinar malformaciones congénitas y el diagnostico diferencial permite determinar las características presentes en el paciente y por lo tanto buscar la mejor alternativa de cirugía correctiva para disminuir el riesgo de morbi-mortalidad del recién nacido, El objetivo del presente es determinar las características epidemiológicas y clínicas del síndrome de VACTERL con un enfoque obstétrico. El desarrollo del artículo se basará en una revisión sistemática mediante la utilización de revistas científicas mayormente de los últimos cinco años que aporten significativamente a esta revisión y actualización. Por último, el manejo y tratamiento de este síndrome requiere de cirugías altamente riesgosas al realizarse en el recién nacido en donde es crucial realizarlas en los primeros días después del nacimiento.
