    As part of the celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the Cahiers de praxématique, this paper relates the history of the relationship that the signatory has maintained with praxematics, and aims to show: why he was immediately impressed by the relevance of the founding positions of this scientific current; and what were the reasons why, if he remained attentive to the advances of this movement, he gradually took his distance with it. In the first part, after indicating the context and the history of his encounter with the founding work of Robert Lafont, he summarizes the circumstances and reasons for his adherence to the political-theoretical orientations of the project, in connection with his own Marxist commitments of the time. He then notes the consistency of the rejection of Saussure’s conceptions by all adherents to praxematics and, based on the results of his own studies of the Genevan linguist’s manuscripts, he indicates how this rejection of Saussure seems seriously unfounded. He further indicates his disagreement with the principle of developing a conceptual apparatus specific to the movement which one adheres, while noting that, with regard to praxematics, this principle has been applied with moderation. To close, the author emphasizes that despite these divergences, the praxematic linguistics movement and that in which it is part, have been and remain the heirs of the same philosophical-scientific tradition.

    Dans le cadre de la célébration du quarantenaire des Cahiers de praxématique, ce texte relate l’histoire des rapports que le signataire a entretenus avec la praxématique, et vise à montrer : pourquoi il fut d’emblée impressionné par la pertinence des positions fondatrices de ce courant scientifique ; et quelles étaient les raisons pour lesquelles, s’il est resté à l’écoute des avancées de ce mouvement, il s’en est progressivement distancé. Dans une première partie, après avoir indiqué le contexte et l’histoire de sa rencontre avec l’ouvrage fondateur de Robert Lafont, il résume les circonstances et raisons de son adhésion aux orientations politico-théoriques du projet, en lien avec ses propres engagements marxistes de l’époque. Il relève ensuite la constance du rejet des conceptions de Saussure par l’ensemble des adhérents à la praxématique et, sur la base de ses propres études des manuscrits du linguiste genevois, il indique en quoi ce rejet de Saussure lui paraît gravement infondé. Il indique encore son désaccord avec le principe d’élaboration d’un appareil conceptuel propre au mouvement auquel on adhère, tout en relevant que, s’agissant de la praxématique, ce principe a été appliqué avec modération. Pour clore, l’auteur souligne qu’en dépit de ces divergences, le mouvement de linguistique praxématique et celui dans lequel il s’inscrit ont été et demeurent les héritiers de la même tradition philosophico-scientifique.
