    Este artículo es basado en una investigación archivística e busca analizar un aspecto particular de la negociación de adhesión de Portugal a la Comunidad Económica Europea, que tuvo lugar entre 1977 y 1985: el papel de la Comisión Europea. A lo largo de este artículo vamos a demostrar que, a pesar de que la Comisión no ser el actor principal o el negociador jefe, tuvo un papel importante durante las negociaciones de ampliación, mediante la preparación de posiciones comunes, acompañando los países candidatos, mediando los intereses, e presentando soluciones de compromiso

    This archive-research based article seeks to analyze a particular aspect of the negotiation of the Portuguese accession to the European Economic Community, held between 1977 and 1985: the role of the European Commission. Over the course of this article we will demonstrate that, even though the Commission was not the main player or head negotiator, it played an important role in the enlargement negotiations, by preparing common positions, accompanying the applicant countries, mediating interests, and presenting compromise solutions.
