    Os liberais forçaram a ligação entre o constitucionalismo e os direitos humanos, o que teve, como consequência, o apagamento das reformas iluministas que incidiram sobre a dignidade humana. O presente texto tem por objetivo, para o reinado de D. José e o governo de Pombal, desconstruir parte da «diabolização» desse mito e dessa manipulação política, em companhia, também, com medidas tomadas em sentido contrário. Em conclusão, uma análise ao tema da figura paradoxal de Pombal, detrator e precursor dos direitos humanos.

    Liberals forced the link between constitutionalism and human rights which had, as a consequence, the erasure of the Enlightenment reforms that focused on human dignity. The present text has the objective, for the reign of D. José and the government of Pombal, to deconstruct part of the «demonization» of this myth and of this political manipulation, in company, also, with measures taken in the opposite direction. In conclusion, an analysis of the paradoxical figure of Pombal, detractor and precursor of human rights.
