    Este artículo analiza el ramo de beneficencia institucional y su influencia en la administración del Hospital de caridad de Tunja entre los años 1857 a 1886. Se realiza un análisis de los diarios oficiales, los informes administrativos, los boletines oficiales y los códigos, leyes y decretos localizados en los archivos de la Academia Boyacense de Historia y la Biblioteca Nacional de Colombia, con el fin de examinar el intervencionismo estatal, las concesiones entre la asistencia pública y privada, y el funcionamiento del hospital como un proceso que confrontó nuevos desafíos para la estructura administrativa del Estado de Boyacá. Se encontró que las distintas posturas del Estado en la forma de brindar la asistencia social, transitó de una administración pasiva, a una exclusiva y excluyente, que propició concesiones con la Iglesia, creando nuevas agendas gubernamentales y avances a nivel normativo e institucional.

    This article analyzes the branch of institutional charity and its influence on the administration of the Charity Hospital of Tunja between the years 1857 to 1886. An analysis of the official journals, administrative reports, official bulletins and codes, laws and decrees is carried out. located in the archives of the Boyacense Academy of History and the National Library of Colombia, in order to examine state interventionism, concessions between public and private assistance, and the operation of the hospital as a process that confronted new challenges for the structure administration of the State of Boyacá. It was found that the different positions of the State in the way of providing social assistance, went from a passive administration, to an exclusive andexcluding one, which led to concessions with the Church, creating new government agendas and advances at the normative and institutional level.
