La teoría política y el derecho valenciano obligaban al rey a gobernar según los fueros y privilegios del reino. Aunque tal afirmación sea correcta, los juristas valencianos de los siglos XVI y XVII se preocuparon por definir una serie de herramientas jurídicas mediante las cuales el monarca podía superar las limitaciones que le ponía la normativa foral. Este trabajo explica algunas de las circunstancias y mecanismos a través de los cuales los reyes de Valencia podían situarse por encima de la legislación del reino.

Political theory and Valencian law forced the king to govern according to the fueros and privileges of the kingdom. Although that affirmation is correct, the Valencian jurists of the 16th and 17th centuries were concerned with defining a series of legal tools through which the monarch could overcome the limitations imposed by the foral regulations. This work explains some of the circumstances and mechanisms through which the kings of Valencia could be placed above the legislation of the kingdom.
