La parte septentrional del reino de Valencia fue un área de ósmosis socio-económica para los habitantes de un lado y otro de la frontera político-administrativa que separa Aragón y Valencia. La asistencia a enfermos, pobres, ancianos y expósitos, junto con una primigenia red de hospitales rurales, dotó a la zona de los mínimos mecanismos para garantizar su auxilio, más allá de la atención ofrecida por las propias familias. Además, la rica documentación analizada permite aproximarnos a la realidad material de estos espacios asistenciales en los siglos finales de la Edad Media, sobre todo gracias a la información que detallan los inventarios de bienes aportados.

The northern part of the kingdom of Valencia was an area of socio-economic osmosis for the inhabitants of both sides of the political-admi-nistrative border (Aragon and Valencia). Assistance to the sick, the poor, the elderly and foundlings, together with a primitive network of rural hospitals, provided the area with the minimum mechanisms to guarantee their assistance, beyond the care offered by the families themselves. In addition, the documents analyzed allow us to approach the material reality of the hospital spaces in the final centuries of the Middle Ages, especially thanks to the information detailed in the inventories of goods provided.
