El claustro fue la primera ampliación de la catedral de Burgos a finales del siglo XIII. El terreno y el espacio disponible generaron su doble altura e irregularidad. El claustro alto se convirtió en un homenaje a los monarcas y religiosos que construyeron la catedral. Todos ellos quedaron inmortalizados en las diferentes esculturas y sepulcros que decoran este piso del claustro.

The cloister was the first enlargement of the cathedral of Burgos at the end of the 13th century. The grounds and the available space resulted in its double height and irregularity. The upper cloister became a tribute to the kings and bishops who built the cathedral. All of them were immortalized in the different sculptures and tombs that decorate this floor of the cloister.
