Corrugated web beams are increasingly being used owing to their light weight and stability against shear buckling. The modes of shear buckling strength are divided into three categories according to industrial standards: local, global, and interactive. The failure of a corrugated web beam occurs due to material yielding or geometrical buckling. This article presents a parametric sensitivity analysis of the design variables of sinusoidally corrugated steel webs in terms of the shear buckling stress. Because the shear buckling performance of a corrugated web is a function of geometric parameters, the elastic buckling performance was investigated via a parametric study by varying design variables. The shear buckling stress and failure mode were obtained via a buckling analysis. Based on the 486 cases considered during the parametric analysis, the relationship between the shear buckling strength and design variables was verified using polynomial regression models.
