This article deals with the myth of Circe in the Triumphos morales by Francisco de Guzmán, a work dedicated to Felipe II. It delves into the sources of previous Hispanic literature to contextualize and analyze the role of this myth in the text. The laudatory poem presents a complex variety of discursive registers that converge on the mythical figure. Francisco de Guzmán resorts to Circe as a literary resource in order to instruct the monarch in his moral behavior in a period of his life. The value of the didactic information offered by Circe would form part of the future geopolitical success of the Hispanic Catholic monarchy
El presente artículo se ocupa del mito de Circe en los Triumphos morales de Francisco de Guzmán, obra dedicada a Felipe II. Profundiza en las fuentes de la literatura hispana precedente para contextualizar y analizar la función que desempeña el mito en el texto. El poema laudatorio presenta una variedad compleja de registros discursivos que convergen en la figura mítica. Francisco de Guzmán acude a Circe como recurso literario para aleccionar al monarca en su comportamiento moral en un periodo de su vida. El valor de la información didáctica ofrecida por Circe formaría parte del futuro éxito geopolítico de la monarquía católica hispana.
