    América Latina y el Caribe ha sido una de las regiones más afectadas por los diferentes impactos de la pandemia causada por la COVID-19, en términos sanitarios, económicos y sociales. Las previsiones económicas para 2023 no son halagüeñas, por las tendencias inflacionarias generalizadas, especialmente en los sectores energético y alimentario, y por el incremento de los endeudamientos públicos para cubrir las necesidades más acuciantes del coronavirus. Sin embargo, las transiciones verde y digital que debe acometer la región para adaptarse a los desafíos climáticos y tecnológicos en marcha ofrecen oportunidades para transformar el sistema productivo y relanzar el contrato social. En ese proceso, las relaciones de los países latinoamericanos entre ellos, con su entorno y con las principales potencias globales determinarán la forma y el éxito de dichas transformaciones.

    Latin America and the Caribbean has been one of the regions most affected by the coronavirus pandemic, posing challenges to public health, social wellbeing, and the economy. Economic forecasts for 2023 are concerning, due to inflationary tensions, especially in the energy and food sectors, and compounded by the increasing public debt generated to cover the immediate needs imposed by the pandemic. The region must accomplish the green and digital transitions to be able to adapt to the current climate and technological challenges. That transition process offers new opportunities to transform the production model and renew the social contract. The relationships between Latin American countries and with the main global powers will determine the trajectory and the success of the transition process.
