    El artículo analiza e interpreta aspectos claves del federalismo argentino como forma de gobierno en el largo plazo con el fin de examinar el anclaje de su constitución histórica, las transformaciones operadas en los siglos XIX y XX, y los dilemas que enfrenta el tiempo presente. De su lectura emanan nuevos conceptos e interpretaciones sobre el federalismo del siglo XIX temprano, como también de las implicancias del actual funcionamiento del sistema federal en el fortalecimiento o debilidad de la democracia republicana.

    ?e article analyzes and interprets key aspects of Argentine federalism as a form of government in the long term in order to examine the anchorage of its historical constitution, the transformations operated in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the dilemmas faced in the present time. New concepts and interpretations of early 19th century federalism emerge from its reading, as well as the implications of the current functioning of the federal system in the strengthening or weakness of republican democracy.
