  • The paper aims to recall the path to promulgate the Law n. 214/1871 (regulating the relations between Italy and the Holy See), focusing on the actors (Pope Pio IX and the Roman Curia, the Italian Governments, the King Vittorio Emanuele II and the International Diplomacy) and on the events that blighted ten years (since 1861 to 1871) of the Italian and European history of the nineteenth century.
