Resumen de «Meglio soli che male accompagnati»? Se e come riproporre il disegno di legge Zan
This paper examines the recent Zan Bill, which was voted down by the Italian Parliament. First of all, the main religious and secular instances in favour of a legislative intervention on homotransfobia are recalled, followed by an analysis of the relevant symbolic significance of such a legislative initiative. The content of the bill is then compared with the main case law and norms that already affect − directly or not − the delicate issue of discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. The author finally offers suggestions for a reproposal of the Zan Bill, focusing on positive actions of prevention and/or socio-cultural promotion and on the contribution of school education on tolerance and cultural pluralism in contemporary democracies.
