    El texto aborda de manera específica los casos de las mujeres sentenciadas por los tribunales militares en el País Vasco durante la inmediata posguerra. El estudio da a conocer no solo las sentencias falladas contra este colectivo, sino que ofrece también un análisis sobre el perfil político y social de la represión de género. A tal efecto, se atiende a las distintas particularidades que condicionaron el ejercicio de la represión en el País Vasco, por un lado, la particular coyuntura de cada una de las tres provincias ante la sublevación militar y la guerra, y por otro, la presencia de católicas, defensoras del orden tradicional, entre las procesadas. A su vez, se analizan los cargos imputados con el objeto de conocer hasta qué punto el castigo sobre las militantes o simpatizantes de una u otra opción política descansaron sobre criterios punitivos diferenciales. Por último, se dedica un apartado destinado a tratar someramente tanto el gradual proceso de excarcelación que tuvo lugar a partir de 1940, así como el rol que el nuevo Estado reservó a las mujeres.

    The text deals specifically with the cases of women sentenced by the military courts in the Basque Country during the immediate postwar period. The study not only provides information on the sentences passed against this group, but also offers an analysis of the political and social profile of gender repression. Thus, it analyzes the different particularities that conditioned the exercise of repression in the Basque Country: on the one hand, the particular situation of the three provinces in the face of the military uprising and the war, and on the other hand, the presence of Catholics, defenders of the traditional order, among those prosecuted. At the same time, the charges brought against them are studied in order to determine to what extent the punishment of the militants or sympathizers of one or the other political option rested on differential punitive criteria. Finally, the text dedicates a brief section to analyze the gradual process of release from prison that took place after 1940 and the role that the new State reserved for women.
