Los interlocutores italianos de las «chicas raras»: Carmen Martín Gaite y Carmen Laforet en el hispanismo italiano actual

    Entrada la democracia en España, la narrativa femenina del siglo XX suscitó una gran atención en el hispanismo italiano. El abandono del feminismo militante de las narradoras españolas, causado por el desarrollo de la Transición, hizo que la crítica italiana virase sus intereses hacia la narrativa femenina hispanoamericana. Impelida por el boom, la literatura hispanoamericana se convertía en uno de los máximos intereses de los hispanistas italianos. Pese al aparente inicial cambio de rumbo, la narrativa española de primer orden del siglo XX y, especialmente la de la posguerra, mantuvo constante el interés por Carmen Martín Gaite y Carmen Laforet. Las trayectorias de estas autoras son difícilmente clasificables en una u otra generación debido a sus especiales particularidades. Actualmente, el hispanismo italiano más joven continúa estudiándolas y traduciéndolas, siguiendo las vías abiertas ya en los noventa por quienes hoy son referentes no sólo para el hispanismo italiano y español, sino también para el hispanismo internacional. Siguiendo la estela crítica de Maria Vittoria Calvi, Elide Pittarello, Elisabetta Sarmati o Luigi Contadini, la bibliografía especializada sobre Martín Gaite y Laforet se enriquece de forma constante con las nuevas aportaciones de Luca Cerullo, Maura Rossi, Giulia Tosolini y Marcella Uberti-Bona, entre otros. La expresión «chica rara», que Martín Gaite creó para referirse a Carmen Laforet en 1987, ha pasado a designar al arquetipo que puebla los universos literarios creados por las autoras. También ellas fueron dos «chicas raras» que han encontrado en los hispanistas italianos de varias generaciones a los mejores interlocutores de su vida, a través del estudio de sus textos personales y de sus obras literarias

    As democracy advanced, 20th century female narrative awoke attention in Italian Hispanist Studies. The forsaking of militant feminism by the Spanish writers, in view of the progress of the Transition, led to a change of direction in Italian criticism towards Latin American female narrative. Driven by the boom, Latin American literature turned into one of greatest interests of Italian Hispanists Studies. Notwithstanding the apparent initial change of direction, the first-rate Spanish narrative of the 20th century, especially postwar narrative, kept a steady interest in Carmen Martín Gaite and Carmen Laforet. The careers of these two authors are difficult to classify in either generation due to their specific characteristics. Presently, the most recent Italian Hispanists continue translating and studying them, following the path open in the nineties by those who today are benchmarks not only for both Spanish and Italian, but also for international Hispanism. Following the critical line of Maria Vittoria Calvi, Elide Pittarello, Elisabetta Sarmati or Luigi Contadini, the specializes bibliography on Martín Gaite and Laforet is steadily enriched by the new contributions of de Luca Cerullo, Maura Rossi, Giulia Tosoloni and Marcella Uberti-Bona, among others. The expression «chica rara», that Martín Gaite created to refer to Carmen Laforet in 1987, refers now to the archetype that inhabits the literary worlds created by the authors. They also were two «chicas raras» who have found in the Italian Hispanists from many generations the best speakers of their lives, by means of the study of their personal writings and literary works.
