Focusing on the phenomenon of the World Youth Days, this chapter brings to the fore the new relationships between tourism and the sacred, especially when we consider that in this case religion takes over tourism, not the other way round, and how this fact changes pilgrimages and pilgrims by moving them away from traditional models of religious/spiritual travel. In order to highlight these innovative ways of pilgrimage, the chapter focuses on World Youth Day Rio 2013, a modern and religious pilgrimage, which seeks to incorporate into the traditional the current yearnings of youth.
