Resumen de El retorno del mito: Dido y Eneas

Juan Luis Caballero Domínguez

  • The myth, either real or imaginary, is a fact which transcends time and space. The tendency is to turn characters and events of the world history into myths.

The myth returns now and then in the world history, and even individuals may embody a myth. We all feel that certain circumstances and situations present in the myths are also present in our lives.

The relationship between DIDO and AENEAS represents a dramatic event culminating in tragedy. Dido obeys the dictates of her heart, whereas Aeneas acts as compelled by fate and the gods’ will. As Dido and Aeneas, we spend our lives fighting desperately between our wishes and our duty, between our heart and our mind.
