A thorough study of Spanish and Portuguese based on the rigorous analysis of their idiomatic systems leads to the discovery of a whole set of similarities which take place within these idiomatic systems homogeneously.
Together with these similarities, there are pertinent linguistic features which, as a consequence of their development in time and space, lead to unavoidable differences between the Spanish and Portuguese linguistic systems.
Our main goal is to offer a comparative study of the two languages in order to account for the linguistic similarities between Spanish and Portuguese, and to describe a series of words which represent the lexical evolution that has taken place in both languages.
