“María, de Jorge Isaacs: un siglo de adaptaciones en cine y tele-visión” es un recorrido analítico por distintas versiones audio-visuales que desde 1918 y hasta 2010 se han hecho a partir de esta novela representativa del romanticismo latinoamericano. Propone identificar sus relaciones narrativas y espacio-tempo-rales respecto a la base literaria. El corpus se compone de todo el material conservado: siete películas en distintos formatos y una serie televisiva. Cada análisis se contextualiza con estudios histó-ricos precedentes, revisa las claves argumentales y enunciativas, describe las particularidades espacio-temporales del tratamien-to audiovisual y subraya lo que estas aportan a la interpretación de su fuente original. Entre otras revelaciones, se concluye que la evolución de las adaptaciones de María ha hecho posible la representación de su dimensión autobiográfica y que es en la te-levisión donde se han podido incorporar y amplificar las micro-historias que la convierten en novela históric

“María, by Jorge Isaacs: a century of film and television adap-tations” is an analytical journey through different audiovisual versions that have been made from 1918 to 2010 based on this representative novel of Latin American romanticism. It proposes to identify its narrative and space-time relations with respect to the literary base. The corpus is made up of all the preserved material: seven films in different formats and a television series. Each analysis is contextualized with previous historical stud-ies, reviews the argumentative and enunciative keys, describes the spatio-temporal particularities of the audiovisual treatment and underlines what these contribute to the interpretation of its original source. Among other revelations, it is concluded that the evolution of the adaptations of María has made possible the representation of its autobiographical dimension and that it is on television where the micro-stories that turn it into a historical novel have been incorporated and amplified.
