    Este artículo analiza las luchas, controversias y debates que ocurrieron en el marco de la coexistencia entre las fuerzas de guerra provinciales y el Ejército de Línea desde la década de 1880. Se explora la composición de esos cuerpos militares y su relación con el Estado nacional luego de concluida la guerra entre la Guardia Nacional de Buenos Aires y el Ejército nacional en el año 1880. Luego se analizan los intentos tendientes a conseguir una centralización más efectiva del poder militar por parte del Estado nacional y ello se vincula con una política que se propone imponer un control más preciso sobre las milicias provinciales.

    This article analyzes the disputes surrounding the coexistence between the provincial militias and the Army of the Line since the 1880s. The organization of the armed forces, the role of the National Guard and its relationship with the national State after the end of the war between the National Guard of Buenos Aires and the National Army in 1880 is explored. Attempts to achieve the effective concentration of military power in the hands of the State are analyzed and this is linked to the need to impose more precise control over the militias by the national authority.
