La femme aux serpents es la representación de la lujuria. En la Edad Media fue un modelo iconográfico muy difundido como enseñanza a la población, siendo el Camino de Santiago el mayor ejemplo para la difusión. Con estas representaciones se buscaba que el fiel evitara los pecados de la carne y alcanzara la salvación del alma.

The femme aux serpents is the representation of lust. In the Middle Ages it was a very widespread iconographic model as a teaching to the population, being the Camino de Santiago the greatest example for diffusion. With these representations it was sought that the faithful should avoid the sins of the flesh and attain the salvation of the soul.
