The Club del Socorro is a distinctive corporation of El Socorro and its status as a city declared a national monument and heritage town of Colombia, whose headquarters have been representative of the cultural heritage and historical imaginaries that strengthen tourist destinations and significant spaces of urban heritage in the communal province. From the consequences of the fire of August 11, 1973, the article aims to describe the importance of the historic mansion, which served as a government house, when it was taken as the club headquarters (1941-1973) and the subsequent transfer of this to the heritage created as “Quinta Fominaya”, before being suitable as the current headquarters of the club (1974-2021).The qualitative research mediated by documentary and oral content analysis concludes that, while the fire strengthened the historical representations and cultural imaginaries maintained about the clubhouse until 1973, in parallel, the actions and discourses of local historians justified the creation and appropriation of a historical site as a heritage site.
