Judith Butler’s philosophy has multiple antecedents. One can even trace the imprint of Baruch Spinoza’s determinism. However, and since delimiting is a necessity, this paper will focus on four of these antecedents: Friedrich Nietzsche (1887), Gayle Rubin (1975), Michel Foucault (1976) y Monique Wittig (1981). And, as conclusions, some lines will be ofered regarding the criticisms launched at Butler’s work for being located in the multiple mosaic of postmodernity.
