El artículo indaga en un expediente judicial por injurias incoado en la ciudad de Buenos Aires a principios del siglo XIX, con el objeto de analizar las potencialidades que presenta la fuente para el estudio de algunas de las características de la conflictividad barrial entre mujeres; la relación que guarda el pleito con el honor femenino y masculino; así como los derroteros que presentan los intentos de judicialización del conflicto. El aspecto que principalmente nos interesa abordar se relaciona con las razones que explican el fracaso -de ambas partes enfrentadas- en presentar y sostener una querella judicial escrita en el lenguaje del honor.
The paper focuses on a judicial record for insults initiated in the city of Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 19th century, in order to analyze the potentialities that the document presents for the study of some of the characteristics of neighborhood conflict between women; the relationship that the lawsuit has with the feminine and masculine honor; as well as the paths presented by the attempts to prosecute the conflict. The aspect that we are mainly interested in addressing is related to the reasons that explain the failure - of both opposing parties - to present and sustain a judicial complaint written in the language of honor.
