  Female old age is made invisible by society, as “eternal” youth must be conquered by means of artifices that hide the aspects of aging. However, other discussions about female aging are being erected with the aim of promoting reflections that build new perspectives and new attitudes. The objective is to analyze how female old age is presented in the social network, Instagram and the discourses exposed in some of them. The Discourse Analysis method was used in order to understand the functioning of discourses referring to elderly women. 95 (ninety-five) profiles of the Instagram social network that deal with women's aging and the use of gray hair as a way of making old age visible were verified. It was verified that the signs, the symbols that produce the discourses and the processes of meaning that are present in the statements of the profiles are full of meanings and conceptions, sedimented and rooted in the social memory as the stigmas and stereotypes related to the aging woman. The main idea of each verified profile proposes social changes and resistance, so that women have the possibility to promote lucubrations and relevant changes in the social vision regarding the female condition when aging.

  A velhice feminina é invisibilizada pela sociedade, pois a juventude “eterna” deve ser conquistada por meios de artifícios que escondam os aspectos do envelhecimento. No entanto, outras discussões acerca do envelhecimento feminino estão se erigindo com o intuito de promover reflexões que construam novos olhares e novas atitudes. Tem-se por objetivo analisar como se apresenta a velhice feminina na rede social, Instagram e os discursos expostos em alguns deles. Utilizou-se o método de Análise do Discurso com a finalidade de compreender o funcionamento dos discursos referentes a mulher idosa. Foram verificados 95 (noventa e cinco) perfis da rede social Instagram que tratam do envelhecimento da mulher e o uso dos cabelos brancos como uma forma de visibilizar a velhice. Verificou-se que os signos, os símbolos que produzem os discursos e os processos de significação que estão presentes nos enunciados dos perfis estão repletos de sentidos e concepções, sedimentados e enraizados na memória social quanto os estigmas e estereótipos relativos à mulher que envelhece. A ideia principal de cada perfil averiguado propõe mudanças sociais e resistência, para que as mulheres tenham a possibilidade de promover elucubrações e mudanças relevantes na visão social no que diz respeito a condição feminina ao envelhecer.
