    El trabajo es un esbozo divulgatorio sobre la vida y obra de Reinaldo Lomboy Veloso y su aporte, desde su labor periodística, a la construcción de la imagen que se tendrá en Chile sobre la ciudad de Punta Arenas y el Territorio Antártico Chileno en la medianía del siglo XX. Para el logro del objetivo, se recopilaron y utilizaron los textos que este autor público sobre estos temas en la revista Zig-Zag y el diario La Prensa Austral de Punta Arenas entre 1947 y 1967. Se concluye, que Lomboy, fue uno de los periodistas chilenos que aportó significativamente a la génesis y proyección sobre la importancia de cimentar una pertenencia nacional sobre las tierras australes y antárticas.

    This paper is a revealing overview about the life and work of Reinaldo Lomboy Veloso and his contribution, from his work as a journalist, to the building of the image in Chile of the city of Punta Arenas and the Chilean Antarctic territory in the 20th Century. To achieve this aim, texts about these topics published by this author in Zig-Zagmagazine and newspaper La Prensa Austral between 1947 and 1967 were compiled and used. It was concluded that Lomboy was one of the Chilean journalists who contributed significantly to the origin and impact on the importance of laying the foundation on the national belonging over the austral and Antarctic lands.
