    El presente capítulo versa sobre la influencia que el espacio y el tiempo ejercen en la organización y práctica educativa. Su papel, seamos conscientes o no de ello, condiciona el modo en el que la escuela se presenta como colectivo, grupo social y comunidad y la forma en la que organiza los procesos de enseñanza/aprendizaje. Incide, por tanto, en las relaciones que se construyen, en los procesos que se promueven y en los resultados que se alcanzan. Los espacios y tiempos escolares dibujan, así, la vida cotidiana de los centros educativos y las oportunidades para el encuentro, la relación, la participación, el desarrollo y el aprendizaje de los miembros de la comunidad educativa que los habitan. Para ello, en primer lugar, se analizan las concepciones que prevalen en torno a los tiempos y espacios escolares, las consecuencias que pueden generar en la práctica educativa, las opciones que el profesorado tiene para tomar decisiones sobre las mismas y algunas claves y propuestas que son útiles para avanzar en la configuración de escuelas y organizaciones pedagógicas más abiertas, flexibles, participativas e inclusivas. Intentamos, en definitiva, ser conscientes de las cadenas, pero también de las alas que los espacios y tiempos pueden generar para el cambio y la mejora educativa.

    This chapter deals with the influence that space and time have on organization and educational practice. Their role, whether we are aware it or not, conditions the way in which the school presents itself as a collective, social group and community and the way in which it organizes teaching-learning processes. It affects, therefore, the relationships that ape built, the processes that are promoted and the results that are achieved. The school spaces and times draw, thus, the daily life of the educational centers and the opportunities for the meeting, relationship, participation development and learning of the members of the educational community that inhabit them. For this, first, the conceptions that prevail around school times and spaces are analyzed, the consequences that they can generate in educational practice, the options that teachers must make decisions about them and some keys and proposals that they are useful for advancing in the configuration of more open, flexible, participatory, and schools and pedagogical organizations. In short, we try to be aware of the chains, but also of the wings that spaces and times can generate for change and educational improvement.
