    Este artículo analiza la génesis del enfrentamiento entre nacionalismo árabe y el islamismo político en Egipto, en su afán por dirigir la lucha contra el colonialismo y posteriormente en conformar su enfoque sobre la identidad y la gobernanza del país.

    El enfrentamiento, liderado en ambos polos por el Ejército egipcio y por los Hermanos Musulmanes, ha sido una lucha por el poder que ha evolucionado a lo largo del tiempo. Y debe su importancia a que la evolución y expansión del islamismo en todo Oriente Medio, ha determinado la historia política de la región hasta hoy.

    This article analyses the genesis of the confrontation between Arab nationalism and political Islamism in Egypt, as they sought to lead the struggle against colonialism and subsequently to shape their approach to identity and governance in the country.The confrontation, led at both poles by the Egyptian army and the Muslim Brotherhood, has been a power struggle that has evolved over time. And it owes its importance to the fact that the evolution and spread of Islamism across the Middle East has shaped the region's political history to this day.
