La seguridad en el ámbito hospitalario

    El desarrollo experimentado por la sociedad en la que vivimos, a lo largo del siglo XX, ha colaborado a erigir el concepto de seguridad a categoría central, junto con el de riesgo y peligro. No en vano, el estado de seguridad se define en función de la sensación, la percepción de riesgo o peligro, por un lado y de bienestar o equilibrio, por otro. Los profesionales sanitarios, en su mayoría, eligen este tipo de trabajo por vocación, que la definen como la actitud y disposición de cuidar a aquellas personas que están enfermas. Por tanto el disfrutar de la misma entra dentro de sus objetivos tanto profesionales como vitales. No obstante, hasta que consiguen establecerse como tales profesionales y alcanzar la “seguridad profesional” tan ansiada por entender que es el punto de partida de la estabilidad en su proyecto vital, estos profesionales van pasando por una serie de etapas que les llenan de dudas e incertidumbres así como inseguridades, las cuales pueden llegar a afectar a la forma de desempeñar su trabajo. Es por eso que, el ámbito de la seguridad en relación con el riesgo y el peligro en el ámbito hospitalario ha de ser un tema de trascendental importancia en las investigaciones que se realicen aportando la perspectiva de la Antropología.

    The development experienced throughout the twentieth century by the society in which we live, has contributed to put the concept of security as a central category, in addition not only to the concept of risk but also to the concept of danger. It is not in vain that the security status is defined, on one hand depending on the level of sensitivity, perception of risk or danger, and the perception of balance or welfare on the other hand. Most of health professionals choose this type of work because of their vocation, which is defined as the attitude and willingness to care for those who are sick. Therefore to enjoy it is included in both their professional and personal life goals. However, until they manage to set themselves up as such professionals and achieve the so longed “professional security", understanding that it is the starting point of stability in their life projects, these professionals go through a series of steps that fill them with doubts, uncertainties as well as insecurities, which can affect the way they perform their jobs. That is why the field of security in relation to the risk and danger in hospital sector, must be an issue of paramount importance in the investigations carried out providing the perspective of anthropology.
